Did you know 48.5 million people in the United States, 157,000 people in Kansas City alone, suffer from drug and alcohol addiction? That means, including friends, family, and peers, nearly 1 in 3 people’s lives are directly impacted by substance use disorders.
At Kingdom Recovery, we are passionate about helping those who struggle with addiction take control of their lives and destinies. Every one of our founding and staff members have experienced addiction in our own lives and understand that the struggle goes beyond the surface of drug or alcohol use.
We are committed to empowering the men in our program to begin rebuilding their lives, one day at a time, from the ground up. The cornerstone of a safe and stable program is a safe place to live, so our program provides safe, affordable, substance-free, transitional housing. When we feel safe, our bodies and minds are able to start relaxing and we are able to begin the journey inward to self-healing.
Next we provide a comprehensive recovery program, giving our members a community to rely on, new ways to deal with with life’s challenges, and a place to share growth with other men working toward the same goal. Through attendance of regular meetings, workshops, and spiritual services, our members have the opportunity to build new relationships within the recovery community that will last long past their stay with us.
One of the most important goals for recovery is finding meaning and purpose in our lives. We work to help the men in our program find that purpose through meaningful employment, schooling, and career training. We partner with organizations in the Kansas City area who provide assistance to our men through resume building classes, aptitude testing, assisting with searches for career and schooling opportunities, assistance buying needed items for work, and providing financial education and assistance, such as opening new bank accounts and learning about saving and investments.
Through our program, we have helped hundreds of individuals re-learn how to “do life.” Whether it’s dealing with legal issues, rebuilding relationships with family and friends, learning how to make better choices, or just learning how to trust themselves again, we are here for all of it.
If you have ever helped someone, you know it takes a village and that the helpers need help too. If you would like to be one of those helpers for the amazing men in our program, who work hard every single day to get to the life they want, we would love to connect with you.
We rely on donations from individuals and businesses in the community to make our program the absolute best it can be for those who have come to us for help. Every dollar donated goes directly to supporting the individuals we serve. Every gift, small or large, makes a huge impact on the lives of those affected by addiction - not just the men we serve, but their parents, friends, children, and communities.
We also depend on members of the community stepping up to volunteer. Whether it’s helping out one time at a fundraising event, showing up once a week to help in the office, or making yourself a regular to work with the guys, we need you!
